My Photo Scrapbook

Last summer I had the opportunity to go on a mission trip with my church. This is a picture of the group that I got to go with and the people that were our leader when we were down in Mexico. This picture represents the freedom that we had to go down to Mexico to help out this church that needed to have some repainting down to their church.

While we were there we helped the church paint the outside of their church, before we were able to do this though we had to scrap off the old paint that was falling off.  We had a lot of help for this so it did not talk to long to do, but with the heat we had to take breaks so we would not over heat. Freedom is also represented in this picture by we had the freedom to help out this church and put in our time when we did not even have to if we did not want to.
When working we would also have times when we would just mess around and have fun with each other and also the people that were working in the church. We had a lot of freedom to do what we wanted as long as we were getting the work done that we wanted to get done for the day.
Not only did we work outside in the sun all the time we also put on a Bible school program for the children that were in the church or anyone that wanted to come from the neighborhood. We would work on arts and craft before the children got there so we would be well prepared for the time when arts and craft came. This also shows freedom by the children had the freedom to come and learn about God and also the freedom to worship him with us.

We did not only working and painting we also got time to ourselves and got to go cite seeing. We got to go on a boat and see around the city more and learn more about it as well. For this is shows knowledge because I got to learn more about another culture and also learn more about a country that I did not know so much about.

Also while we were there, since it was with my church we got the chance to have time to worship and have Bible study. Every night when we would get back to the hotel we would go down to a room and have Bible study, talk about Gods word, and also the day of work that we just finished with. We had the freedom to worship on this trip and also the freedom to show our faith and share our knowledge of God with each other.

When we were first putting this trip together they told us that we would be in a poor part on the city and we would be building a church. This fell through and we were not able to go to this part of the city. While we were there we got to go to the place that we were suppose to work and saw how very unjust it was that people had to be living in this poor part of a country.

While working we made a lot of friends with the church leaders kids and also them. The kids were very fun and loved when we would play with them. When it came time to say good bye the were all so sad, the kids were crying and all they wanted to do was to take pictures with us. This was great because I will know be able to remember these kids for the rest of my life. I will always have the knowledege of these kids and how excited they were that we were there and happy that we were when we played with them.

We also made friends with our host Jamie and Martha. They are great people and show their love to many people that come and mission with them each year.  Jamie and Martha show too many people hope that one day they will have the freedom to do what they want and life will not be so unjust for them.  This mission trip was a great time in my life I will keep these memories throughout the rest of my life.  I will be happy that I have has much freedom that I do where I live in America and know that I am lucky where I live it is a just place to live and not full of poverty like it is in other places in the world.
