Teacher Impact on Me

A person, who has impacted my education and a part of a reason why I want to be a teacher, is my second grade teacher Mrs. Eekoff. Mrs. Eekoff made learning and school fun for me, also with every assignment we had to do it would be fun as well. We would play a lot of games a remember every week for spelling we would play a game and not liking spelling so much it made me learn in a fun way and not realize I was learning. If you were having trouble with something she would sit down with you and help you out till you got it. She wanted to make sure everyone was learning and not falling behind. Also if you were not doing well on something she would not put you down but instead make sure to keep you excited about learning. Mrs. Eekoff also had a relationship with the kids she was easy to talk to and if I stayed after school with my mom I would go talk to her and hang out in her room with a group of kids. She made me want to be a teacher by seeing how she put the joy of learning in first and second graders. She also made me want to teach by how she shared a relationship with the students and had a lot of kids look up to her and ask her questions all through their schooling years.

  1. Amy,
This was wonderful testimony in honor of your 2nd grade teacher. Isn't it interesting how good teachers stand out in our lives, and how a number of them influence our own desire to become educators? It seems to me as if she practiced a number of the problem-posing aspects of Friere's BCE in treating her young students with respect and honoring their potential as learners, and little people in general. Nice reflection! 10/10 possible points.
